Duquesne seeded 6th, earns bye into 2nd round of Atlantic 10 Tournament
Duquesne earned a No. 6 seed, received a bye into the second round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament and will play the George Washington/Fordham winner at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Duquesne (21-9, 11-7) split two games against No. 11 George Washington (12-19, 6-12). The Dukes won 66-61 on the road and lost 70-67 at PPG Paints Arena. The Dukes defeated No. 14 Fordham (8-22, 2-16) twice in close games, 58-56 in overtime, and 59-54.

A victory would vault Duquesne into the quarterfinals at 8:30 p.m. Friday against No. 3 seed Rhode Island.
Duquesne’s 21 victories in coach Keith Dambrot’s third season tied for the sixth-best in program history. The 11 conference victories represent a school record.
Despite the loss to No. 2 seed Richmond on Friday night, the Dukes have won three of their past four games.
They must win four games in four days to win the championship and receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. That has happened four times — twice by former A-10 member Xavier (2004, 2006), plus VCU (2015) and Saint Louis (2019).
