Two freshman guards are leaving the Duquesne basketball program.

Ashton Miller, the cousin of director of player development Ashton Gibbs, has entered the NCAA transfer portal while Evan Buckley is leaving and has no plans to play elsewhere, a team spokesman said.

While playing in 23 of 30 games this season, Miller averaged 9.2 minutes and 1.2 points per game. He shot 9 of 45 from the field, including 3 of 28 from beyond the 3-point arc. Buckley scored 10 points in 20 games, averaging 6.1 minutes per game..

Miller and Buckley were part of a crowded group of guards, and all four — Sincere Carry, Tavian Dunn-Martin, Maceo Austin and Lamar Norman Jr. — have eligibility remaining.

Duquesne coach Keith Dambrot has two guards in his incoming class of 2020 — Jett Roessing, who played at Sewickley Academy and First Love Academy, and Tyson Acuff, a finalist for Mr. Basketball in Michigan this year.

Another Duquesne guard, Frankie Hughes, decided to transfer to the University of San Diego after missing the entire 2019-20 season with a knee injury.
