Duquesne’s Lindsay Kivlan captures national open tumbling title

Duquesne made its first appearance at the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association national championships over the weekend, and left quite an impression on the competition.

Mars native Lindsay Kivlan helped put the second-year Dukes program on the map by winning the national championship in open tumbling Sunday at Azusa Pacific University’s Felix Events Center.

Kivlan scored a 9.80 on her open pass to secure the title.

The freshman is Duquesne’s first individual national champion in any sport and captured the first national championship by a women’s program in school history.

In high school, Kivlan was a Level 10 gymnast at X-Cel Gymnastics, who won national medals on vault in 2023 and 2024 with the Eastern National gymnastics team. She also was a Level 9 state all-around champion in 2023 and the state champion in bars, beam and vault.

Duquesne also qualified finalists in acro five-element, quad tumbling and aerial tumbling.
