Duquesne's Tyson Acuff enters transfer portal
Tyson Acuff, a second-year guard who was one of only four holdovers from the 2020-2021 Duquesne men’s basketball team, put his name in the NCAA transfer portal Friday.
Acuff joins Toby Okani and freshman guard Jackie Johnson III as players who have announced plans to transfer from Duquesne.
After scoring a total of 21 points in two Atlantic 10 Tournament games in 2021, Acuff appeared to have a future with the Dukes. He played in all 30 games this season, with 16 starts, but he finished sixth on the team in scoring (5.7 points per game) and rebounding (2.9).
He led the Dukes (6-24, 1-16) in 3-point shooting accuracy (39.4%, 28 of 71) and was second overall (44.8%) while remaining an important part of coach Keith Dambrot’s rotation through the end of the season.
He scored 15 points each and played a majority of the minutes in late-season losses to Davidson and George Washington. In the triple-overtime loss to GW, he played 47 of the 55 minutes. But those were his only two double-digit scoring efforts against Atlantic 10 opponents.
