New Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson was among players hitting the ice for an unofficial skate with teammates this week at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry.
Acquired this summer in a massive trade from the San Jose Sharks, Karlsson wore his customary No. 65.
New winger Reilly Smith, acquired right before this year’s draft from the Las Vegas Golden Knights, was sporting No. 19 on his helmet.
Others spotted in the unofficial workouts, which have been going on for a few weeks, included center Evgeni Malkin, winger Bryan Rust, defenseman P.O Joseph and forward Radim Zohorna.
