Former Penguins defenseman Nate Clurman has signed with the Montreal Canadiens, agreeing to a one-year, two-way contract with a salary cap hit of $775,000.

The Penguins signed Clurman to a one-year, two-way contract with an identical salary cap hit last offseason.

A sixth-round draft pick (No. 161 overall) of the Colorado Avalanche in 2016, Clurman made his NHL debut more than eight years later with the Penguins this past season, appearing in a single game. Skating on the third pairing, he logged 11:05 of ice time on 17 shifts and did not record a point during a 3-2 home win against the New York Islanders on Dec. 29.

Primarily stationed with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL) during the 2024-25 campaign, Clurman scored 11 points (two goals, nine assists) in 31 games.

Following this transaction, 15 players who finished the 2024-25 season under contract with the Penguins remain unrestricted free agents with regard to their NHL statuses.
