Forward Drake Caggiula spent part of the 2022-23 season with the Penguins.

Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Drake Caggiula has signed a one-year contract for the 2025-26 season with Lausanne Hockey Club of Switzerland’s National League.

That team announced the transaction in a release on Monday.

A native of Pickering, Ont., the 30-year-old Caggiula is still officially under contract for the remainder of the 2024-25 season with the Edmonton Oilers, who will open the Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers on Wednesday. A pending unrestricted free agent July 1 as his NHL status is concerned, Caggiula is signed to a two-year, two-way contract with the Oilers.

This past regular season, he appeared in seven games with the Oilers and recorded an assist while averaging 7:18 of ice time.

Caggiula spent most of the season with the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League. Skating in 62 games with that club, Caggiula posted 52 points (24 goals, 28 assists).

A left-handed shot, Caggiula’s lone season with the Penguins came in 2022-23. Appearing in four NHL contests, he did not record a point while clocking an average of 6:36 of ice time per contest.

Caggiula spent most of that season assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL. He finished second on the team in scoring with 53 points (22 goals, 31 assists) in 65 games.

In addition to the Penguins and Oilers, Caggiula has played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Buffalo Sabres and Arizona Coyotes.
