Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins forward Josh Currie. In 24 AHL games this past season, foward Josh Currie led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in scoring with 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists).

Forward Josh Currie, who served as captain of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this past season, has joined Metallurg Magnitogorsk in Russia’s KHL.

Magnitogorsk announced the signing on its website.

An unrestricted free agent signing in October, Currie was on a one-year, two-way contract with the Penguins.

Currie, 28, was Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s leading scorer with 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) in 24 games this past season. His lone game with the NHL club came during a 5-2 home win against the Philadelphia Flyers on March 2.

With Currie’s departure, the Penguins have seven remaining pending unrestricted free agents this offseason in defenseman Cody Ceci, Kevin Czcuzman, Zach Trotman, forwards Frederick Gaudreau, Evan Rodrigues, Colton Sceviour and goaltender Maxime Lagace.
