Fajt, Jackson set for busy weekend
It will be a busy weekend for Murrysville’s Palmer Jackson and Greensburg’s Kevin Fajt.
They will be teamed together in the Westmoreland County Better-Ball tournament, which will begin at noon Saturday at Hannastown Golf Club.
There are 16 two-man teams competing for the title.
Some of the other teams include: Ryan Kerila/Mike Fedor; Mike McGuire/David DeNezza; Vince Zachetti/Ed Elliott; Bob Allshouse/Josh Schroder; Brandon Antus/Stori Snider; Arnie Cutrell/Javon Trout; Bo Ruffner/Bryan Grejtak and Sean Knapp/Brady Pevarnik.
Sunnehanna qualifier
Fajt, Jackson and Evan Long are among the 68 players competing in the Sunnehanna Amateur qualifier Sunday at Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown.
They will be vying for five spots for the amateur tournament, which begins Wednesday. The 72-hole event lasts four days and brings some of the top amateurs in the country to the Laurel Mountains.
The among the players already committed are 2017 USGA Senior Amateur champion Knapp of Oakmont and ‘18 West Penn Amateur champion Connor Schmidt of Peters Township.
Fajt and Jackson, who won the AJGA Memorial Junior on Thursday in Columbus, Ohio, will be trying to join Knapp and Schmidt in the field.
