My fantasy football team is terrible this year. I’m not Miami Dolphins kind-of-bad. But I am, like, Arizona Cardinals or Atlanta Falcons kind-of-bad.
And I don’t feel alone. Many people I’ve talked to who play are having a really hard time in their leagues this year. I float some theories as to why to Jeff Erickson of RotoWire for our weekly fantasy sports podcast.
We get into the increased role of quarterbacks in a lot of leagues this year. And major inconsistencies at the skill positions.
Then there is just the general poor quality of play from multiple franchises across the league. I tend to think that may be impacting fantasy results. I get Jeff’s opinion on that front, too.
Some top-round draft picks have been average to bad. Some third receivers and running backs have gone from flex territory to super stardom. We compare the likes of Chris Godwin and Austin Hooper to the likes of DeAndre Hopkins and Zach Ertz.
I have Hopkins and Ertz, by the way. Hence my angst!
Patrick Mahomes hasn’t been his usual machine-self of late. We discuss if that will turn around against the Denver Broncos Thursday night. And this a tough week for byes since Nick Chubb, Godwin and Christian McCaffrey are all off. Jeff has some advice as to who you might want to nab from the free-agent wire.
