If Game 1 of the NFL season is any indication, a lot of offseason fantasy league hype about certain skill position players is about to come true quickly.

The defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs beat the Houston Texans, 34-20, in the Thursday night league opener. Rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire showed why he was soaring up draft boards with 138 yards and a touchdown. Patrick Mahomes threw three touchdowns. And tight end Travis Kelce caught one.

Meanwhile, for Houston it was the first game of the post-DeAndre Hopkins era. Receiver Will Fuller stepped up with 112 yards and a score. And running back David Johnson found the end zone in his first game as a Texan after being traded by the Arizona Cardinals. But he only had 11 carries.

Jeff Erickson of RotoWire spoke about all of those players on his watch list for this week prior to the game. Now he is going in depth with us on topics to track before setting your lineup for the first Sunday of the season.

Although many fans are attempting to pretend that the NFL is coronavirus proof, concerns still exist. Erickson has some angles to monitor week-to-week for your league and your roster management strategy.

After last week’s running back-dominated news cycle, Erickson tells us how he thinks things will shake out for the likes of Alvin Kamara and Leonard Fournette, among others.

The Steelers’ offensive-line shuffle may have an impact on the numbers their skill position players will put on the board. We discuss that ripple effect.

Also, we focus on a bit of renewed faith in Steelers running back James Conner from the fantasy community, injury concerns in Denver and how varying levels of crowd noise could play a role in fantasy results.

Plus, we analyze the unbelievable spike in runs in Major League Baseball on Wednesday night.
