First Call: Bengals taunt during win in Pittsburgh; Steelers early underdogs vs Packers; ex-Steelers score with new teams

The Bengals are laughing all the way back to Cincinnati after a win against the Steelers. The Green Bay Packers are already significant favorites in advance of their game against the Steelers next week. And two former Steelers found their way into the end zone with their new franchises.

All that in Monday’s “First Call.”

Lapping it up

Not only did the Cincinnati Bengals manage to win a 24-10 game at Heinz Field, but they basked in the victory.

Former Steeler Mike Hilton appeared to relish the win and gave a mocking wave goodbye to Steelers fans after the game.

He made sure his happiness was known on Twitter.

Bengals players — even new rookies like Ja’Marr Chase — are still taking shots at JuJu Smith-Schuster for his logo dance in Cincy last year.

Milk toast Bengals coach Zac Taylor even stole Mike Tomlin’s “standard is the standard” line. Whether he meant to or not.

National analyst Ross Tucker piled on.

And these Next Gen Stats tell the story of the Steelers’ anemic pass rush in the wake of injuries to Stephon Tuitt, T.J. Watt, Tyson Alualu and Alex Highsmith.

I’m sure next week will get better against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, though. Right?

That’s it?

The Steelers are rolling into Green Bay as 7.5-point underdogs next week according to Betonline.ag.

That’s following two straight losses for the Steelers after a stunning win in Buffalo and two straight victories for the Packers after a jarring 38-3 loss to New Orleans.

Green Bay got a last-second 51-yard field goal from Mason Crosby to beat the San Francisco 49ers Sunday night.

The Packers have scored 65 points the last two games against the 49ers and Detroit Lions. They’ve allowed 45 points over those games. So maybe the Steelers’ piddly offense can get a few scores for a change.

It’s a 4:25 p.m. start on Sunday.

Catching up with Conner

The Arizona Cardinals improved to 3-0 on the season with a 31-19 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Former Steeler and Pitt Panther James Conner helped. The running back had two touchdowns during the game.

Those were Conner’s first two scores of the season. He had 43 yards on 11 carries Sunday.

Keep it coming

Another former Steeler got into the end zone for the first time with his new team Sunday.

That was wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders. He also scored twice for the Buffalo Bills en route to a 43-21 beatdown of Washington.

That result is on the heels of a 35-0 Buffalo whitewashing of Miami last week. Since mysteriously losing to the Steelers in Week 1, Buffalo has outscored its opponents 78-21.
