Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb goes down with a severe knee injury in the first quarter Monday at Acrisure Stadium.

Now that the Pittsburgh Steelers are at 1-1, they look to get above .500 with a win over the Las Vegas Raiders. However, there is a sketchy track record when it comes to road trips out west to play that franchise.

There is a medical update on one of Vegas’ star players.

Meanwhile, after Nick Chubb’s gruesome knee injury against the Steelers on Monday night, the Browns got the exact bad news they expected in terms of a diagnosis. Players across the league reacted to the injury.

All that is in Tuesday’s “First Call.”

Wishing the best

After suffering an ugly knee injury against the Steelers, Cleveland Browns Pro Bowl running back Nick Chubb had to be carted off the Acrisure Stadium field on Monday night.

Many other running backs across the league, including former Steeler and Pitt Panther James Conner, posted their messages of regret and sympathy after seeing the injury.

Others across the NFL posted comments as well.

Chubb’s injury occurred just a few hours after a report from Mark Maske of the Washington Post that the NFL “filed a grievance against the NFLPA last week accusing the union of improperly advising running backs to fake injuries as a contract-negotiating tactic with teams.”

Worst confirmed

Following the game, the Browns got the bad news they expected on Chubb’s knee.

Via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, there were multiple ligament tears in the knee and he will be lost for the season.

It’s not the first time Chubb injured that knee.

Cabot reported that Chubb went to a local hospital as a precaution but was released and sent back to Cleveland.

Adams update

The Steelers are heading out to Las Vegas to face the Raiders on Sunday night. And it may be a third straight game against a Pro Bowl receiver. After facing Deebo Samuel and Amari Cooper to open the season, the Steelers secondary could be in line to face another one in Davante Adams next week.

Adams was knocked out of the team’s game last week against the Buffalo Bills when he absorbed a hit that drew a personal foul flag late in the fourth quarter. Adams went into concussion protocol. But Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels seemed optimistic about Adams’ recovery and that of fellow wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. He missed the game in Buffalo with a concussion of his own.

“Tae’s good, Jakobi’s headed in the right direction,” McDaniels said Monday.

Adams has 12 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown over the course of Vegas’ first two games.

Long time comin’

How long has it been since the Steelers have won a road game against the Raiders? Well, let’s put it this way. The Raiders had just moved back to Oakland that year.

That’s right, the Steelers haven’t beaten the Silver and Black on the road since 1995. It was a 29-10 victory in Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. Norm Johnson kicked five field goals. Ernie Mills caught two touchdown passes from Neil O’Donnell. Erric Pegram had 122 yards on 29 carries as Bill Cowher’s Steelers improved to 10-4 and the Raiders fell to 8-6.

It was the seventh of eight wins in a row for the club. Oakland missed the playoffs. The Steelers went onto the Super Bowl before falling to the Dallas Cowboys.

Since then, the Steelers have only traveled to face the Raiders four times. After an 11-year hiatus, they played in Oakland in 2006, ‘12, ‘13 and ’18, losing all four contests. Three of those results were by a field goal, the other was by seven points.

Overall, the Raiders have won six of the last nine in the series.
