Steelers place kicker Chris Boswell during practice July 31 at Saint Vincent College.

Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell doesn’t want to discuss his contract situation. A pair of former Steelers are on the move. Myles Garrett got busted for speeding yet again.

And it’s “a Paul Skenes day in Milwaukee. All that in Tuesday’s “First Call.”

I’ll pass

On Monday, Cameron Heyward spoke with the media about his contractual hold-in.

Kicker Chris Boswell is in a similar situation, but on Monday, he declined a request to state his position.

Boswell has two years remaining on his contract. He is currently the NFL’s eighth-highest-paid kicker at a $5 million average annual value. Kansas City’s Harrison Butker is the league’s highest-paid kicker at $6.4 million per season.

Boswell was 41 of 44 on field goal attempts last year. He and Heyward were both first-team All-Pros.

See you down the road

A pair of former Steelers have latched on with AFC rivals.

First off, running back Aaron Shampklin signed with the Miami Dolphins on Monday.

That news occurred after it was discovered that the former Harvard running back had recently worked out with the Chicago Bears. Shampklin got into three games for the Steelers last year and totaled 17 yards on three carries.

The Steelers host Miami on Dec. 15.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns have signed ex-Steelers defensive back Darius Rush.

The 25-year-old was in Pittsburgh for portions of the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He was an intriguing player in the secondary, but injuries got in the way, and he was waived Oct. 1. Rush also saw action in three games in 2023, registering three tackles.

The Steelers host Cleveland on Oct. 12 and visit the Browns on Dec. 28.

Many ‘Myles per hour

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports that Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was cited for speeding on Saturday morning. He was alleged to have been driving 100 miles per hour in a 60 mph zone.

She says this is his eighth speeding citation since being drafted by Cleveland in 2017. This one cost him $250.

In 2021, Garrett was cited for going 120 mph on Interstate 71 in Medina County. He was then pulled over for speeding at 105 mph on Interstate 71 the next day. In 2022, the All-Pro flipped his Porsche 911 three times while speeding.

Earlier this year, Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders was cited twice in a short amount of time for speeding as well.

Mixed results

Pirates ace Paul Skenes is pitching against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday. It will be his fourth career start versus the club.

The first time he saw the Brewers, he was pulled with a no-hitter going in Milwaukee, striking out 11 while walking one through seven innings. That was on July 11, 2024, as Pittsburgh won 1-0.

On May 23 of this year, Skenes and the Pirates won a 6-5 game vs. the Brewers at PNC Park as the right-hander allowed just one earned run over six innings while racking up eight strikeouts against two walks.

However, the Brewers got the better of Skenes and the Pirates in Milwaukee on June 25. Skenes only lasted four innings as he allowed four runs on four hits and two walks. The Bucs lost that game 4-2.

On Tuesday, Skenes (7-8, 1.94) will be opposed by Freddy Peralta, who is 13-5 with a 3.03 ERA.
