First Call: Joe Burrow on T.J. Watt's interception; Steelers-Colts game has different tone; Darrelle Revis' honor
Monday’s “First Call” has Joe Burrow’s assessment of Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt after yet another eye-popping interception.
Next week’s game for the Steelers no longer appears to be the joke people were making it out to be two weeks ago. A former Pitt Panthers star is getting a well-deserved honor from his former NFL team. Chase Claypool continues to be less than impressive in Chicago.
And Duquesne provides a stage for a coach with local ties to return home for a game.
Burrow bewildered
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow did a lot right en route to a 37-30 victory over the Steelers at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday. He threw for 346 yards and four touchdowns.
But Burrow did throw two interceptions. One of them was to Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt.

That was the second time this season Watt has leapt in the air to gobble up an interception on a short pass attempt from Burrow.
Watt’s effort left the Cincy signal caller impressed.
“Man, that guy — I’ve never seen plays like that made before from a defensive lineman,” Burrow said. “And he’s made two against me this year. I would love to say that there’s something I can do about that, but there’s just nothing I can do about that.”
Yet he didn’t dominate the game to the level he often does against AFC North foes. Burrow credited offensive tackle La’el Collins for keeping Watt at bay as much as possible.
“When you’re going up against T.J. Watt like L.C. was all day — and we drop back the way that we are — and we didn’t really help him that much. There weren’t a lot of rubs and chips,” Burrow explained. “T.J.’s going to get one every now and then, but L.C. was lights out all day.”
Watt ended up with half a sack that he split with Alex Highsmith. He had six tackles, another quarterback hit and a second pass defended.

Not so nutty now?
The Steelers play the Indianapolis Colts next week on “Monday Night Football.” Indy lost Sunday to fall to 4-6-1. But the Colts have been far from the farce that everyone was expecting once Jeff Saturday got hired as interim coach.
When the former Colts center took over as the head coach with zero college or NFL head coaching experience, many assumed the Colts would become a clown show. As in, not even functionally able to compete.
Well, that hasn’t been the case. They beat the Las Vegas Raiders 25-20 in Saturday’s debut two weeks ago. Then they narrowly lost to the team with the best record in football Sunday.
Indy fell to the Philadelphia Eagles 17-16. The Colts led the whole game until a Jalen Hurts touchdown run with one minute, 20 seconds left.

The Steelers last played the Colts in 2020, beating them 28-24 in Pittsburgh on Dec. 27.
Ring for Revis
Former Pitt Panther Darrelle Revis is getting an acknowledgement from the team that drafted him.
The New York Jets are inducting the Aliquippa alum into their Ring of Honor Sunday when the team takes on the Chicago Bears.
Revis played eight seasons with the Jets. He also played in Tampa Bay for a season, won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots in 2014 and was a Kansas City Chief for five games in 2017.
Revis was in the NFL for 11 seasons. He was a seven-time Pro Bowler (2008-11, 2013-15) at cornerback and a four-time first-team All-Pro (2009-11, 2014).
“For me, just being recognized, it’s amazing, in a way, for an organization to honor you and the hard work and dedication that you put into it,” Revis told the Daily News.

Two of Revis’ former teammates — left tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson and center Nick Mangold — received Jets Ring of Honor inductions earlier this year.
Little so far
The Chicago Bears are still looking to get something out of Chase Claypool.
The former Steelers wide receiver had only two catches for 11 yards during the club’s 27-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. He has just five catches for 32 yards in three games.
Meanwhile, the Bears have lost all three games since the trade. That’ll help the Steelers draft positioning since they are getting the Bears’ second-round pick in April as the return for Claypool.
Chicago accounted for just 128 team passing yards on the day in the loss to the Falcons.
Back home again
The Duquesne men’s basketball team puts its 3-1 record up against North Florida (2-1) on Monday night.
It’s a homecoming for Ospreys coach Matt Driscoll. He is an alum of Northgate High School and was the head coach at the school from 1988-90.
From there, he coached as an assistant at Butler County Community College (1990-91) and Seneca Valley High School (1991-93). From 1993-97, Driscoll served as the head coach at LaRoche College. That’s where Duquesne played its home games for a year and a half (2019-21) while the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse was being constructed.
Driscoll has been the head coach at UNF since 2009. He won the Atlantic Sun regular-season crown three times (2015, ‘16, ‘20). He grabbed the ASUN Tournament Championship and got an NCAA bid in 2015.
