First Call: Video of alleged Antonio Brown furniture toss emerges; Gerrit Cole's K record
In Wednesday’s “First Call,” video emerges of the alleged furniture-tossing incident involving Antonio Brown. Also, Brown is not getting paid by the New England Patriots. Gerrit Cole is a strikeout machine. And the Pirates help start a party in Washington.
Video emerges
A television station in Miami aired video of the infamous furniture-tossing incident allegedly involving Antonio Brown.
Brown was deposed Tuesday over a lawsuit alleging he caused thousands of dollars in damages to a condo he was renting last year.
The former Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots wide receiver is being sued by the landlords. According to WSVN in Miami, they are claiming property damage in the range of $80,000 and seeking reparations of more than $15,000.
Brown posted video on his Instagram story of him entering the courtroom.

Now that Brown is going back to college, maybe he can take some pre-law courses — he can represent himself and save a few bucks.
Business isn’t boomin'
Speaking of Brown, he hasn’t been paid the first installment of his New England Patriots signing bonus yet.
According to ProFootballTalk.com, the Patriots “did not pay Brown $5 million, for the first installment of the signing bonus, on or before the Monday deadline specified in his contract.”
However, the website speculates that Brown may get his money eventually through a grievance because “he did not commit a ‘forfeitable breach’ under the terms of the labor deal.”
New England may formulate an argument that Brown and his agent Drew Rosenhaus hid knowledge of the extent of the sexual assault lawsuit that was eventually filed against him.
More K’s for Cole
Former Pirate Gerrit Cole continues to make his case for the Cy Young.
He tallied 14 strikeouts Tuesday night for the Houston Astros. That gives him 316 on the season, which breaks the old club record of 313 previously set by J.R. Richard back in 1979.

Cole allowed no earned runs and only two hits over seven innings, as the Astros shutout the Seattle Mariners 3-0.
Cole is now 19-5 with a 2.52 ERA. He has one more scheduled start Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels.
Check out these other numbers via MLB.com, “Cole has whiffed at least 10 batters in eight consecutive starts, tying the MLB record shared with Chris Sale (2015, ‘17) and Pedro Martinez (1999). Cole also joins Hall of Famers Randy Johnson (four times), [Nolan] Ryan (twice) and Sandy Koufax (once) as the only pitchers with 20 starts of at least 10 strikeouts in a single season since 1920. He’s struck out at least 14 batters five times.”
But, hey, Colin Moran got a hit last night for the Pirates. So… that was nice.
Look familiar?
Tuesday night Trea Turner hit this grand slam to help the Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies in the nightcap of a doubleheader, 6-5.

The Nationals won both games and were poised to clinch a wild-card spot, if a certain last-place National League Central team could get a rare win over the Chicago Cubs.
Sure enough, the folks working the Nats’ jumbotron switched over to the Pirates-Cubs game at PNC Park so the team and the crowd could watch in hopes of having a celebration.
Much like what we saw at Heinz Field last year as the Steelers stayed on the grass to watch the end of that Week 17 Ravens-Browns game, Washington players waited with anticipation to see if the Pirates could close out a 9-2 victory.
The Pirates did their part, and Washington’s players got to celebrate.

Too bad that scene at Heinz Field didn’t end the same way back in December.
The Cubs and New York Mets are five games back of the Milwaukee Brewers for the last National League wild-card slot. The Brewers will clinch with their next victory or the next loss by the Cubs and Mets.
Rattle on!
And on. And on. And on.
The Arizona Diamondbacks needed 19 innings before beating the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 Tuesday night.

That was Ildemaro Vargas with the game-winning hit. He tied the game in the ninth inning as well.
Via ESPN.com, the game lasted 6 hours and 53 minutes. It featured 24 pitchers and 48 strikeouts.
The Diamondbacks used a franchise-record 30 players. It was the longest game by innings and time in Chase Field history.
