• In Allegheny County, the Ohio River is shaping up to be a good spot for anglers who are aiming to catch walleye and muskellunge. Catfish also are biting, mostly at nightcrawlers. The hot spots in this section of the Ohio are apparently around the base of the structures that are in the water.

• The crappie are biting at Shenango Reservoir, where anglers are doing well with the panfish but are limited to a creel limit of 20. Typically, jigs and spinners work well as a setup when fishing for crappie, with live bait such as minnows or worms providing a solid approach.
• Fishermen at French Creek are doing well with a variety of fish, reporting catches of walleye and smallmouth bass, as well as the occasional northern pike catch. Spoons and spinnerbaits are usually pretty tempting for pike, and make for an attractive setup.
• Anglers are enjoying some pretty good fishing of late at Pymatuning Reservoir, which is hosting a number of different fish populations. Fishermen are trolling the reservoir and picking up largemouth bass, walleye, crappie and yellow perch. The perch, crappie and bass inhabit the shallow portions of the water, in around 5-7 feet depth. Meanwhile, the walleye are being found throughout the lake. Anglers are also catching channel catfish here.
• Conneaut Lake is yielding solid numbers of northern pike and largemouth bass to local fishermen. According to reports, an assortment of panfish are swimming throughout the lake as well, usually biting at live bait.
• The smallmouth bass are moving into the shallows at Presque Isle Bay, as fishermen are reeling in healthy quantities of the fish using soft plastic presentations. Anglers are also enjoying plenty of bites from freshwater drum and panfish. Additionally, there are a few reports of northern pike and walleye catches.
• Lake Arthur appears to be a productive spot for crappie fishing, as catches are coming in with regularity in the last couple of weeks.
• Another fruitful area for crappie fishing is Lake Wilhelm, with fishermen doing well on both sides of the lakes. Apparently, live bait is the way to go.
