Fishing report: Smallmouth bass biting at Kiskiminetas River
• Catch rates are on the rise at the Kiskiminetas River, where anglers are finding plenty of smallmouth bass. The bass don’t appear to be particularly picky when it comes to baits and lures, as fishermen are reporting successful results with a variety of tackle. The early-morning and early-evening hours have made for the best fishing. In between those times, the action is a little slower, according to reports.
• Fishermen at Quemahoning Reservoir are doing well with smallmouth bass and even reporting a few walleye catches.
• High Point Lake is offering up bluegill to anglers in the area, with a few reporting some larger catches. For those who prefer to fish with live bait, wax works and meal worms typically work.
• At Youghiogheny River Lake, fishermen are reporting hefty walleye catches. Jigging with live bait or plastics should provide anglers with a solid approach for attracting the walleye.
• The largemouth bass bite appears to have slowed at the Beaver River, but fishermen are still finding some action here and there using artificial baits.
• In Beaver County, the Ohio River is harboring plenty of catfish, most of which appear to be flathead catfish or channel catfish. Options for bait include bluegill and cut bait.
• The Allegheny River in Clarion County is giving up a variety of fish, including smallmouth bass, channel catfish and walleye. The channel catfish are mostly biting at night, while the smallmouth bass are more active during the daytime. The walleye are primarily swimming in the Parker Islands area.
• The Upper Clarion River is a good spot to visit for anglers who are looking to troll for walleye. The dawn and dusk hours are the most lucrative. A small number of smallmouth bass catches were reported as well.
• The Lower Clarion River is yielding smallmouth bass and walleye to fishermen who are casting out in the vicinity of its confluence with the Allegheny River.
• Anglers fishing Kahle Lake are doing well with crappies, yellow perch and largemouth bass, in particular. A handful of bluegill catches were also reported within the last week or so.
• Fishermen at Tionesta Creek are finding smallmouth bass and musky in solid numbers.
