Florida Atlantic running back Kerrith Whyte Jr. celebrates his touchdown against Central Florida during the second half Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, in Orlando, Fla.

The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted a running back from Florida Atlantic on Thursday, but it was not the one that has shown up in the top 10 of most position lists heading into the NFL Draft.

Kerrith Whyte, a 5-foot-10, 200-pound redshirt junior from FAU, became the sixth running back to visit with the Steelers in the past two weeks.

Whyte rushed for 866 yards and averaged 6.5 yards per carry in 2018. He had eight rushing touchdowns, two receiving scores and he also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

Whyte, though, wasn’t the main runner at Florida Atlantic. Devin Singletary rushed for 4,299 yards and scored 66 touchdowns in three seasons at the school and likely will be taken on the second day of the draft.

In addition to Whyte, the Steelers also have hosted running backs Miles Sanders of Penn State, Damien Harris of Alabama, Mike Weber of Ohio State, Jordan Scarlett of Florida and Travis Homer of Miami.

Given the interest the Steelers have shown in running backs, they could select one in the mid-to-late rounds of the draft to complement starter James Conner and backup Jaylen Samuels. Whyte is viewed as a third-day prospect.

The Steelers have hosted 28 players in the predraft process, including three local visitors that don’t count against their 30-player allotment.

Of the 28 visitors, the Steelers have hosted six linebackers, six running backs, five cornerbacks, three wide receivers, three safeties, three tight ends, one defensive end and one offensive lineman.

Here is the list of players the Steelers previously hosted:
