Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi landed the 17th member of his 2023 recruiting class Monday when defensive end Maverick Gracio announced his plans to enroll next year.

Gracio (6-foot-5, 225 pounds) recorded 22 sacks in 12 games this season for Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, Fla. He is the seventh member of the class from Florida. By way of comparison, Pitt has verbal commitments from only two players who attend Pennsylvania high schools — linebacker Braylan Lovelace of Leechburg and wide receiver Kenny Johnson of Dallastown,

Gracio is a three-star prospect, according to Rivals.com. He was previously verbally committed to Kent State, and he also holds offers from Illinois, Purdue, Akron, Florida Atlantic and South Florida.

He joins Antonio Camon of Tampa, Fla., as the only defensive ends in Pitt’s class that is ranked 51st in the nation by Rivals.

Players who have made verbal commitments can sign letters of intent Wednesday.
