Lorenzo Taliaferro, who played three season as a Baltimore Ravens running back from 2014-16 after starring at Coastal Carolina, died Wednesday. He was 28.

Authorities have not released a cause of death, but a family member told Fox45 that Taliaferro died of a heart attack in his hometown of Williamsburg, Va.

Taliaferro played 19 NFL games for the Ravens, rushing for 339 yards and five touchdowns. He switched positions to play fullback in 2017, but Baltimore released him before the start of the season.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Lorenzo Taliaferro,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said in a statement released on social media. “Lorenzo was a kind, smart, respectful and determined young man — someone always committed to his teammates and well-liked by everyone in our organization.”

The Ravens selected Taliaferro in the fourth round of the 2014 draft.

Wednesday night and Thursday morning, several current and former Ravens players took to Twitter to react to the news of his death.
