During his time at Penn State, Wade stood out in the defensive secondary, racking up 153 total tackles in 47 games. He also recorded 6.5 tackles for a loss, three sacks, one interception, 11 pass deflections and four forced fumbles.
Wade scored the only touchdown of his college career this season when he returned a kickoff 100 yards in Penn State’s 56-21 Big Ten victory over Illinois.
The 5-foot-9, 187-pound defensive back made seven starts during his senior season and was also named as a team captain, but his best collegiate season may have came a year ago.
As a junior, Wade burst onto the scene with 67 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss and two sacks. He was also named an All-Big Ten honorable mention.
Wade’s success at the collegiate level didn’t come as a surprise after the career he had at Clairton.
In 2016, his final high school season, he was named the Gatorade Pennsylvania football player of the year and was named to the USA Today all-state first team. During that season, Wade rushed for 2,368 yards and scored 40 touchdowns, while also picking off four passes.
He finished his high school football career with 7,079 rushing yards, which was third in WPIAL history at the time, to go with 117 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He also helped Clairton capture three straight WPIAL titles from his sophomore to his senior seasons.
