Brady Pevarnik has changed clubs before to combat a stiff wind or to negotiate a tight pin placement.
But now the former Latrobe star golfer is changing colleges.
Pevarnik is leaving Penn State and will transfer to the College of Charleston (S.C.) for the spring semester.
“It just wasn’t the right fit for me (at Penn State),” the freshman said. “I love the school, but it just wasn’t the one for me. It’s just a better fit. I was looking to go to a lot smaller school but a team that was just as good if not better (than Penn State).”
Pevarnik played just three rounds as a freshman, averaging 74.0.

Pevarnik, a regular contender during his WPIAL career, has top-10 finishes at the notable Scott Robertson Memorial and Southern Junior Championship. The former Westmoreland County Amateur champion also has a runner-up at the West Pennsylvania Amateur to his credit, as well as a third-place finish at the Pennsylvania Amateur.
“Brady will be a tremendous addition to our team from both an experience and work ethic standpoint,” Charleston coach Mitch Krywulycz said in a news release. “Brady was an elite junior player, who not only competed in highly regarded amateur events at a young age, but flourished achieving multiple high finishes. That experience, combined with his unwavering competitive nature, will push him and our program to new heights.”
