Defenseman Mark Friedman spent parts of three seasons with the Penguins.

Former Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Mark Friedman has signed a two-year contract with Rögle BK of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL).

That team announced the transaction via a release Thursday.

A native of Toronto, the 29-year-old Friedman split the 2024-25 season between the Vancouver Canucks and Nashville Predators organizations, primarily at the American Hockey League level.

In five NHL contests with the Canucks, Friedman had no points while averaging 14:04 of ice time per contest.

Meanwhile, as an AHLer, Friedman skated for the Abbotsford Canucks and Milwaukee Admirals, appearing in a combined 41 games and posting 19 points (three goals, 16 assists).

Friedman, a right-handed shot, spent parts of three seasons with the Penguins earlier this decade. Skating in 54 games for the club, Friedman scored 11 points while clocking 13:34 of average ice time per contest.

In addition to the Penguins and Canucks, Friedman has played for the Philadelphia Flyers.
