Former Penguins forward Anthony Angello retires
Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Anthony Angello has announced his retirement from professional hockey.
Declaring his decision on Instagram, Angello quipped he would be finishing a degree from Cornell “at the ripe age of 30.”
The Penguins selected Angello out of Cornell in the fifth round (No. 145 overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft.
Primarily stationed with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL) throughout his tenure with the organization, the massive Angello (6-foot-5, 210 pounds) made his NHL debut during the 2019-20 season.
Over three NHL campaigns, Angello appeared in 31 games and scored five points (three goals, two assists), all with the Penguins.
