Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Cal O’Reilly has signed with Vålerenga of the EliteHockey Ligaen (EHL) in Norway.
That transaction was announced on Tuesday.
A native of Toronto, O’Reilly, 39, opened the current season skating for the SCL Tigers of Switzerland’s National League. In 20 games with that club, O’Reilly had five points (one goal, four assists).
The left-handed O’Reilly (6-foot, 183 pounds) was briefly a member of the Penguins during the 2011-12 season when he appeared in six games and recorded one assist. He also suited up in 21 games for the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and posted 10 assists for that club.
O’Reilly spent the past two seasons with the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals. During the 2024-25 campaign, he became the ninth player in the history of the 89-year-old AHL to appear in 1,000 career games in that league.
In addition to the Pittsburgh Penguins, O’Reilly has played for the Nashville Predators, Phoenix Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres and Minnesota Wild at the NHL level.
