Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Cal O’Reilly has signed with the SCL Tigers of Switzerland’s National League.
That transaction was announced on Tuesday. Per the terms of the deal, O’Reilly’s contract is through the end of October with an option for an extension.
A native of Toronto, the 38-year-old O’Reilly spent the past two seasons with Milwaukee of the American Hockey League (AHL). During the 2024-25 campaign, he became the ninth player in the history of the 89-year-old AHL to appear in 1,000 career games in that league.
The left-handed O’Reilly (6-foot, 183 pounds) was briefly a member of the Penguins during the 2011-12 season when he appeared in six games and recorded one assist. He also suited up in 21 games for the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and posted 10 assists for that club.
In addition to the Pittsburgh Penguins, O’Reilly has played for the Nashville Predators, Phoenix Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres and Minnesota Wild.
