Former Penguins forward Mark Letestu hired as coach of AHL's Colorado Eagles
Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Mark Letestu has been hired as head coach of the American Hockey League’s Colorado Eagles.
That team announced the transaction Saturday. The Eagles are the primary minor league affiliate of the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche.
Letestu, 40, spent the past four seasons as an assistant and development coach with the Columbus Blue Jackets and their AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters.
Undrafted out of Western Michigan University, Letestu joined the Penguins as a free agent in 2007 and spent parts of six seasons with the organization. Over that span, the center skated in 85 NHL games for the Penguins and scored 29 points (15 goals, 14 assists).
In addition to the Penguins, Letestu played for the Blue Jackets, Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets during his NHL career.
