Former Penguins forward Riley Sheahan signs in Switzerland

Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Riley Sheahan has signed with EHC Biel-Bienne in Switzerland’s National League.

The team announced his signing on Thursday.

Earlier in the week, the 30-year-old Sheahan had his NHL contract terminated by the Buffalo Sabres.

A native of St. Catherines, Ont., Sheahan Spent parts of two seasons with the Penguins, the 2017-18 and 2018-19 campaigns.

In 122 career games with the Penguins, Sheahan had 41 points (18 goals, 23 assists) while averaging 14:14 of ice time per contest.

In addition to the Penguins and Sabres, Sheahan has also played for the Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers, Edmonton Oilers and Seattle Kraken.
