Goaltender Louis Domingue was a member of the Penguins during the 2021-22 season.

Former Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Louis Domingue has signed a one-year contract with Sibir Novosibirsk of Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

That team announced the transaction with a release on Thursday.

A native of Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, the 33-year-old Domingue has spent the past three seasons with the New York Rangers organization, primarily at the American Hockey League (AHL) level. During the 2024-25 campaign, he appeared in 28 games for the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack and posted a 7-20-2 record, a 3.32 goals against average and an .896 save percentage.

Domingue’s tenure with the Penguins was brief but memorable. A member of the club for only one season (2021-22), Domingue was thrust into the Penguins’ crease during a first-round playoff series against the Rangers. While starter Tristan Jarry was sidelined due to a left foot injury, backup Casey DeSmith suffered a groin injury in the second overtime period of Game 1. Domingue replaced DeSmith and stopped all 17 shots he faced to guide the Penguins to a 4-3 road win in three overtime periods.

After the game, Domingue became something of a cult hero for revealing he had consumed a dinner of pork and broccoli during the contest.

The right-catching Domingue was unable to maintain that momentum over the course of the series as the Penguins eventually lost in seven games.

In addition to the Penguins and Rangers, Domingue has played for the Arizona Coyotes, Tampa Bay Lightning, New Jersey Devils, Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames.
