Former Pittsburgh Penguins forwards Kevin Stevens and Matt Cullen, who won a combined four Stanley Cup championships with the club, were elected into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame Thursday.
Stevens, 59, spent part of 10 seasons with the Penguins (1987-95, 2001-02) in a 15-year NHL career, helping Pittsburgh to back-to-back Stanley Cup titles in 1991 and 1992.
With the Penguins, he scored 260 goals and added 295 assists for 555 points, which rank seventh, 10th and ninth all-time in franchise history.
Stevens was a three-time All-Star and is the fifth member of the Penguins’ 1991 or 1992 Stanley Cup clubs to be selected to the Hall of Fame, joining Joe Mullen (1998), Gordie Roberts (1999), Tom Barrasso (2009) and Craig Patrick (1996).
Cullen, 47, played from 1997-2019, spending three seasons with the Penguins, including the club’s Stanley Cup-winning campaigns in 2016 and 2017.
In 1,516 career NHL games, he scored 266 goals with 465 assists.
Three of Cullen’s last four years in the league were spent with Pittsburgh and he won an additional Stanley Cup in 2006 with the Carolina Hurricanes.
Both Stevens and Cullen currently hold positions with the Penguins and are the 16th and 17th individuals with either builder or player ties to the organization to be elected to the Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame’s Class of 2024 is set to be formally inducted in a ceremony in Pittsburgh on Dec. 4.
