Another former Pittsburgh Penguins staffer has joined some familiar faces with the Vancouver Canucks.

Alex Trinca, a strength and conditioning coach with the Penguins for the past seven seasons, was hired by the Canucks as director of sport performance and will lead that franchise’s “human performance department.”

The Canucks announced Trinca’s hiring via release Tuesday.

He will be reunited with several former Penguins staffers in Vancouver, including president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford, general manager Patrik Allvin, head coach Rick Tocchet, assistant coach Sergei Gonchar, assistant general general manager Derek Clancy and director of player personnel Scott Young.

Hired by the Penguins in August of 2015, Trinca was a member of the franchise’s Stanley Cup championships in 2016 and 2017.

With Trinca’s departure, the Penguins still have Alexi Pianosi on staff as a strenght and conditioning coach.

Follow the Penguins all season long.
