Former Penn State staff member David Corley named Steelers assistant QB coach
With two relatively young quarterbacks on the roster and a third potentially joining them in the NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers hired David Corley as assistant quarterbacks coach.
The announcement was made Tuesday.
Corley, 42, was the running backs coach at Richmond in 2021 and spent the 2018 season as wide receivers coach at Penn State.
With the Steelers, he will work alongside quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan, who is entering his second year with the organization. With the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers have Mason Rudolph and Mitch Trubisky on the roster. They also could be in a market for a quarterback in the draft.
Corley was with the Steelers in 2010 when he worked with the team’s quarterbacks as part of the Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship. In that capacity, he also worked with the Carolina Panthers in 2013 and 2021 and the Houston Texans in the 2019 season.
Corley also has coached running backs at South Carolina State and receivers at Army. In 2016, he was offensive coordinator at Connecticut, his third season at that school.
Like Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, Corley attended William & Mary, where he set 27 school passing records from 1999-2002. He was inducted into the school’s athletic hall of fame in 2014. He also coached at William & Mary from 2008-13.
