Shown while playing for James Madison during last year’s the FCS championship game, quarterback Ben DiNucci agreed to terms with the Dallas Cowboys on Monday. A seventh-round pick, DiNucci starred at Pine-Richland High School and spent three seasons at Pitt before transferring.

Former Pine-Richland and Pitt quarterback Ben DiNucci agreed to terms with the Dallas Cowboys to a four-year rookie contract.

DiNucci, a seventh-round pick, led James Madison to the FCS national championship game last year. DiNucci was at Pitt from 2015-17, playing in 12 games and making six starts. Prior to that, he set the Pennsylvania single-season passing yardage record with 4,269 and threw 46 touchdown passes as a senior at Pine-Richland.

The signing was reported by a reporter for the Cowboys’ official website.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound DiNucci was the 231st overall pick, the 10th of 12 quarterbacks selected. Despite playing for only two seasons at James Madison, DiNucci finished among the top four in school history in completions, passing yards and touchdowns. He had 3,441 passing yards and 29 passing touchdowns in addition to 569 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns as a senior.

DiNucci was a Tribune-Review “Terrific 25” selection as a senior in high school, when he was also named USA Today second-team All-American and the Pennsylvania Gatorade player of the year.

DiNucci announced his intention to transfer from Pitt not long after the Panthers started then-freshman Kenny Pickett in lieu of him in the 2017 season finale against Miami. DiNucci initially had committed to Penn out of high school but changed his mind after receiving a scholarship offer from Pitt.
