Former Steelers player Ryan Switzer's child released from hospital
After a stressful weekend in the hospital, the son of former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Ryan Switzer is home.
Christian Switzer, only nine months old, was admitted to the hospital Saturday after waking up covered in his blood. Christian, who also was diagnosed with covid-19, needed fluids, medication and several transfusions.
Switzer and his wife Gabie called Saturday the toughest day of their lives.
Doctors performed surgery over the weekend to stop the bleeding, and Christian was moved out of the ICU on Monday.
“We didn’t get any clear answers on why what happened, happened but, to see him sleep through the night with no bleeding and wake up in a playful mood this morning means our prayers are being answered,” Switzer wrote Wednesday on Twitter. “Thank you all.”
Switzer said his son was discharged Tuesday evening.
Mr. man was discharged from the hospital yesterday evening. In 25 games for the Steelers in the 2018 and 2019 seasons, Switzer made 44 receptions for 280 yards and one touchdown. The Steelers cut Switzer in September, and he spent parts of the 2020 season on the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad. The Browns signed Switzer to the reserve/futures list in January.
