Former Steelers running back Jack Deloplaine, a member of two Super Bowl championship teams in the 1970s, died Monday at age 68, according to multiple reports.

Deloplaine, a native of Pottstown in Montgomery County, was a standout player at Salem University in West Virginia. In 1975, he led the NAIA with 22 touchdowns and was named West Virginia Amateur Athlete of the Year, NAIA All-American and team offensive MVP.

The Steelers chose him in the sixth round of the 1976 draft. He played parts of four seasons with the team, appearing in 33 games and rushing 30 times for 147 yards and two touchdowns. He was a member of teams that won Super Bowl XIII and Super Bowl XIV.

Nicknamed “hydroplane” after he ran effectively in a preseason game in the rain, Deloplaine was living in South Carolina at the time of his death. A cause of death was not available.
