Former Washington Wild Thing outfielder Chris Carter will enter the Frontier League Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2025.

Carter played four seasons in the Frontier League from 2003-06, two with the Wild Things from 2005-2006. He batted .318 with over 180 RBIs and earned postseason all-star recognition in 2003 and 2006. Also, he spent two seasons with the Kalamazoo Kings and briefly entered the Orioles’ minor league system before heading to Washington.

In 2005, he brought home 73 runs and tallied 13 doubles and eight triples while hitting a career-high 12 home runs. In 2006, he recorded eight homers, nine doubles, six triples and drove in 48 runs.

The Wild Things won 122 games and made the Frontier League playoffs twice while Carter was on the team. He helped set a league record with 63 wins in 2005. He totaled 364 hits while playing in the Frontier League, including a season-best 103 on the Wild Things in 2005.

“Chris was a five-tool player: He could hit, hit for power, run, play all three outfield positions, and (he) had a strong arm,” 2004-07 Wild Things coach John Massarelli told the Frontier League. “His best attribute, however, was his ability to lead in the clubhouse and be the ultimate teammate. (He is) one of my favorite players in my coaching career.”

Carter’s Frontier League Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be July 25 before the Wild Things host the Florence Y’alls at EQT Park.

Other members of Carter’s hall of fame class are Mike Cervenak, Robert Ford, Phil Hawke, Jason Lowey, Josh Lowey and Rick Nadeau.

A player must be out of the Frontier League for three years and retired from professional baseball for a season before being eligible for the Frontier League Hall of Fame. At least two players will be elected from each of three eras: 1993-1999, 2000-2010 and 2011-2020. A historical moment or an individual who helped grow the league will also be inducted.
