Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton defenseman Mac Hollowell signs in Russia
Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defenseman Mac Hollowell has signed a one-year contract with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
That team announced the transaction via Telegram, a popular social media outlet in Europe.
A native of Niagara Falls, Ont., the right-handed Hollowell is in the final weeks of a one-year, two-way contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. With regard to his NHL status, Hollowell is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
The 26-year-old Hollowell spent the entire 2024-25 season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and was that team’s leading scorer among defensemen with 30 points (one goal, 30 assists) in 56 games.
Lokomotiv Yaroslavl won the KHL’s championship, the Gagarin Cup, this past season.
