Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins forward Jimmy Huntington signs with Sharks
Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins forward Jimmy Huntington has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the San Jose Sharks. Financial terms were not announced but deals such as this typically carry a salary cap hit of $775,000.
The Pittsburgh Penguins signed Huntington to a one-year, two-way contract with a salary cap hit of $775,000 last summer.
Assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League out of training camp, Huntington appeared in four games and scored four points (one goal, three assists) before an undisclosed injury brought his season to a premature halt in mid-October.
Following this transaction, 11 players who finished the 2024-25 season under contract with the Penguins remain unrestricted free agents with regard to their NHL statuses.
Forwards — Raivis Ansons, Emil Bemstrom, Marc Johnstone, Mathias Laferriere, Matt Nieto
Defensemen — Matt Grzelcyk, Mac Hollowell, P.O Joseph, Filip Kral, Colton Poolman
Goaltender — Taylor Gauthier
(Notes: Ansons signed an AHL contract with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for the 2025-26 season. … Hollowell and Kral have signed contracts with teams in Europe.)
