Four-star shooting guard Judah Mintz decommits from Pitt's class of 2022
Four-star shooting guard Judah Mintz, who pledged to Pitt in June, reopened his commitment Wednesday on the first day of the early signing period for basketball, leaving coach Jeff Capel without a committed prospect from the class of 2022.

Mintz, 6-foot-4, is the 14th-ranked shooting guard in the nation, according to Rivals.com. He is the No. 68 overall prospect.
He will play this season for Oak Hill (Va.) Academy after transferring from Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C. He averaged 16 points per game last season at Gonzaga.
Patrick O’Brien, a recruiting analyst for phenomhoopreport.com, described Mintz as a guard who has the ability to make plays around the hoop.
“Mintz is a combo guard that gets to the basket,” O’Brien wrote, “finishes at the rim, and simply loves the mid-range game. He is also one that is able to step out and knock down the 3, as well as make an impact on the defensive end.”
Pitt was planning to have Mintz replace Nike Sibande next season, but Sibande will miss the entire 2021-22 season after suffering a knee injury last week.
When he committed to Pitt, Mintz also was considering Penn State and Georgetown. He has offers from Florida, LSU, Maryland, Northwestern, Seton Hall, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
