Fox Chapel grad Sheppard earns MVP honors at Ultimate all-star game
Max Sheppard, a Fox Chapel High School and Edinboro University graduate, captured Most Valuable Player honors at the American Ultimate Disc League’s annual all-star game Saturday in Madison, Wisc.
Representing his hometown Pittsburgh Thunderbirds, Sheppard helped Team KPS score a 28-27 victory over Team Rowan in double overtime.
He finished the game with three goals, five assists and two blocks. He recorded 218 receiving yards, good for eighth overall from both teams, and added 180 yards throwing.

Sheppard, 23, was the only player from the Thunderbirds to take part in the game.
Through seven games this season, the Thunderbirds are 4-3 and are tied for second with the Madison Radicals in the Midwest Division. They have won four in a row after an 0-3 start.
Sheppard has 26 goals, 21 assists and six blocks.
In 45 career games, all with Pittsburgh, he owns 110 goals and 121 assists.
The Thunderbirds return to action against the Radicals on June 22 at 6 p.m. at JC Stone Field in North Park.
