Steelers guard David DeCastro blocks for running back James Conner in the fourth quarter Monday, Oct. 28, 2019 at Heinz Field.

Benny Snell is reportedly going to miss multiple games after undergoing knee surgery. It’s looking increasingly unlikely that the player ahead of him on the Pittsburgh Steelers running back depth chart will play this Sunday, either.

Three days after suffering a shoulder injury late during his most productive game of the season, James Conner missed Steelers practice for a second consecutive day Thursday. Conner, Snell and veteran starting guard Ramon Foster (concussion protocol) were the only Steelers players to miss practice Thursday.

According to a report from the NFL Network cited an unnamed source, Snell recently underwent surgery to trim his meniscus. The procedure, according to the report from Ian Rapoport, “should” prevent Snell from playing in the next two or three games.

If Snell and Conner both cannot play, Jaylen Samuels would assume the Steelers featured back role in his return from a two-game absence because of a knee injury. Samuels has not missed any practice time over the past two weeks.

Center Maurkice Pouncey (calf), defensive tackle Dan McCullers (ankle) and rookie linebacker Ulysees Gilbert (back) all on Thursday practiced fully for the first time this week.

“I’m feeling good,” Pouncey said Thursday. “Younger than ever.”
