For the first time in five years, the Pittsburgh Penguins will take part in a winner-take-all Game 7 on Sunday.
The NHL announced that the deciding game of the Penguins’ first-round series against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden would faceoff at 7 p.m.
The game will be televised nationally on TBS and in Pittsburgh on AT&T SportsNet.
Game 7 was necessitated after the Penguins lost to the Rangers by identical 5-3 scores Wednesday and Friday. It was eight years ago that the Penguins likewise lost Games 5 and 6 of a series that they had led 3-1 against New York – the Rangers won that Game 7.
The Penguins, though, have won the past three Game 7s they have taken part in: the 2016 Eastern Conference finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the 2017 second-round against the Washington Capitals and the 2017 East finals against the Ottawa Senators.
Every game of this Penguins-Rangers series has had an announced start time of 7 p.m.
