Gannon turned an inconspicuous Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference softball game into a home run derby.

The Knights belted eight home runs on the way to a 15-0 win over Mercyhurst in five innings Thursday in Erie.

It was the second game of a doubleheader. Mercyhurst (5-18, 1-1) won the first game, 8-2.

The eight homers by Gannon (12-7, 1-1) tie the conference record. Cal U hit eight homers in a PSAC game in 2004.

Sophomore Kaity Stocker hit three and Kristina DeMatteis two for the Knights. Stocker drove in five runs.

Junior Lisa Szajn hit a three-run bomb, while juniors Rachel Tanilli (Deer Lakes) and Sarah Ingerick added two-run shots.
