The decorated college career of Gateway graduate Jae’Len Means came to an end late last month after he competed in the 200-meter dash at the NCAA Division II track and field championships May 24-25, in Kingsville, Texas.

The Cal (Pa.) senior finished 19th in the preliminary heats and fell short of the finals.

He was fifth in his heat with a time of 21.61 seconds.

The top-two times from each heat, plus the next two-best times, qualified for the finals of the 200 meters.

It was Means’ fourth career appearance at the NCAA meet.

Means closed his career as a two-time NCAA All-American in the 200 meters and 10-time PSAC champion (eight individual).

He set the all-time outdoor league record in the 200 meters this spring and also holds school records in the indoor 200 meters and outdoor 100 meters.

He set the 200 outdoor record at 21.01 seconds at Duke.
