Gerrit Cole and wife Amy announce they are expecting their first child
Former Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole and his wife Amy announced Wednesday they are expecting their first child in June.
“Baby Cole on the way soon” reads the baby onesie Amy is holding in the photo posted to Cole’s official Instagram page.
“Can’t wait to meet our son in June,” Gerrit Cole said on the post.
His wife posted the same images in reverse order, captioning them, “A year of new beginnings. New city, new team, and a new member of the family! Baby Cole is arriving in June and we are overjoyed.”
Former teammate Justin Verlander, as well as Brandon Crawford, Amy’s brother and San Francisco Giants shortstop, were among the friends and players that congratulated the couple.
Cole, 29, signed a nine-year, $324 million deal with the New York Yankees in December, making him the richest MLB pitcher.
Cole started his career in 2013 with the Pirates and was traded to the Astros in 2018. Last season the Astros advanced to the World Series and Cole went 1-1 in his starts, but the Astros lost the serries to the Washington Nationals.
The Yankees move quickly to sign the right-handed, who grew up a Yankees fan.
