‘I just tossed it to the side because obviously it was a little bit of frustration, but no, I wouldn’t throw a tablet at him,’ Giants coach Brian Daboll said.

NEW YORK — Brian Daboll said he wasn’t showing up Daniel Jones when he frustratedly tossed a tablet after reviewing Jones’ interception on the bench.

“Yeah, I’m not doing that,” Daboll said on a Tuesday conference call.

The head coach pointed something out on the play to his QB and then tossed the tablet down in frustration into the lap of quarterback coach Shea Tierney.

It was reminiscent of Daboll chewing Jones out on camera in Week 1 of last season after Jones’ red zone interception against the Tennessee Titans.

“I just tossed it to the side because obviously it was a little bit of frustration, but no, I wouldn’t throw a tablet at him,” Daboll said.

This happened Monday after Jones blew by Daboll coming off the field as the coach incredulously tried to talk to his quarterback about his killer red-zone throw.

Daboll claimed Jones walking past him did not demonstrate a disconnect between him and his $40 million-a-year QB.

“No, Daniel is a coachable person,” Daboll said. “Again, things aren’t going great. Again, I’m not exactly sure what the cameras did or did not show, but Daniel is a coachable guy. I like working with Daniel, and we’ve got some things we’ve got to do better.”

He said he doesn’t regret anything that happened on the sideline.

“I’m just coaching,” Daboll said. “I’m coaching Daniel when he comes off the field. Again, the tablet thing, I’d have to go back and see it. But again, I remember exactly what it is. We were talking about a particular play, and I just tossed it off to the side.”

Daboll also insisted he and Jones are on the same page.

“Yeah, I’d say Daniel and I are in constant communication, so I think we have a good understanding of one another,” the Giants’ head coach said. “Again, there are certain plays that happen in games where, again, I’m not going to coach everybody the same, but I have a great appreciation for Daniel and how he approaches things.”

Fixes: where to start?

Daboll’s list of priorities or “hot topics” to try to fix immediately: 1. “Scoring points is a premium.” 2. “Finishing early drives.” 3. “Too many penalties on special teams.” He said the Giants’ defense showed “improvement,” including on third down.

Open season on Jones continues

Opposing players continued trashing Jones’ game or making comments that painted him in a negative light on Monday and Tuesday.

49ers defensive lineman Arik Armstead tweeted while watching Jones’ three turnovers to the Seahawks: “Daniel Jones I am so disappointed in you… why would you throw the ball so quick vs. us and then let these people have a career day? ….. why weren’t we deserving ?”

Former Giants teammate and 49ers lineman Jon Feliciano tweeted “hate to see it.” Then when fans called it out as a troll of his former team, Feliciano said: “Not trolling you jackys. I don’t like seeing my friends do bad … Unless I’m on the other sideline.”

Seahawks rookie corner Devon Witherspoon, meanwhile, made a damning comment to NFL Network’s Judy Battista about Seattle’s scouting report of Jones after Witherspoon went for seven tackles, two sacks and a 97-yard interception return for a touchdown.

“We were just trusting the game plan coach laid out for us,” Witherspoon said. “We knew he liked to stare down his first target. So he had his back turned, and a lot of guys were winning their matchups up front.”
