West Virginia senior Mark Goetz was named to the Division I PING All-Midwest Region Team, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Goetz is the second player in school history named to the PING All-Midwest Region Team. Matthew Sharpstene earned the same honor in 2019.
The Greensburg native and Kiski School grad was WVU’s first NCAA Regional qualifier this season, finishing second at 8-under-par in the NCAA Regional in Noblesville, Ind., just missing a spot in the NCAA championship.
Goetz will return to WVU for another season in 2021-22.
Three-way tie
Three teams tied for the Tri-State PGA Section Pro-Scratch event May 24 at Hannastown Golf Club, finishing at 6-under 64.
The teams were Michael Stone and Brett Young of Lone Pine Golf Club, Kevin Shields and Ryan Sikora of The Club at Nevillewood and Jay Mull and Marshall Brown of St. Clair County Club.
Tying for fourth at 4-under 66 were Joe Boros and Kevin Fajt of Treesdale Golf and Country Club and Roy Vucinich and Austin Lemieux of Allegheny Country Club.

The Western Pennsylvania Golf Association held a qualifier May 27 at The Country Club of Meadville for the 121st Amateur Championship.
The championship will be July 12 and 13 at Indiana Country Club.
Amani Dambrosio of Wildwood Golf Club was the medalist with a 4-under 68.
Others to qualify were Ryan Peters, Jay Fuhrer, Austin Lemieux, Mike Wolfe, Rob Stoops, Luke Minsky, J.F. Aber, Shane Kelley, Joe Merriott, Ryan Ferry, Justin Hand, Michael Marsico, Kevin Bove and Donnie Professori.

Jeff Frazier of Carlisle Country Club defeated David Brown of St. Clair Country Club, 2 and 1, in the finals of the 14th Men’s Senior Match Play Championship at Radnor Valley Country Club.
Don Donatoni of White Manor Country Club defeated Don Erickson III of Indiana Country Club, 2-up, in the Super Senior Championship.
The first Women’s Senior Match Play Championship also was held at Radnor Valley.
The Senior winner was Beth Ward of Colonial Golf & Tennis Club. She defeated Ruth Averback of Old York Road Country Club, 6 and 4.
The Super Senior winner was Barbara Naglak of Moselem Springs, 3 and 1, over Karen McFadden of Overbrook Golf Club.
This week
Tri-State PGA Section is hosting the Club Car Pro-Official Champion on Tuesday at Chartiers Country Club and the Watson Institute Invitational Pro-Am on Friday at Allegheny Country Club.
The WPGA will hold the 28th Spring Stroke Play Championship at Williams Golf and Country Club on Tuesday in Weirton, W.Va., and another amateur qualifier on Thursday at Scotch Valley Country Club in Hollidaysburg.
