Westminster senior Darius Doty ended his collegiate football career with the best game of his career on Saturday.
The defensive end and Greensburg Salem graduate helped Westminster defeat SUNY-Morrisville, 35-24, in the Eastern College Athletic Conference’s Clayton Chapman Bowl.
Doty led the Titan defense with eight tackles, a career-high six solo, including 4.5 tackles for a loss and 1.5 sacks.
“It was my final game, so I wanted to leave my mark,” Doty said, “I left it all on the field. I just said, ‘Heck, go off script and make plays.’ It was a lot of fun.”
Doty finished third on the team with 54 tackles including 32 solos, and 2.5 sacks. He had a team-high 14 tackles for loss.
“I had a lot of fun at Westminster,” Doty said. “I played every year and earned four letters. It was a great experience.”
He had 21 tackles for losses during his career. Prior to his eight-tackle performance against Morrisville, he had nine-tackle games against Case Western and Carnegie Mellon.
Doty is a business administration major. He was a three-year letterman at Greensburg Salem and two-year captain. He was an all-conference linebacker his senior season.
