Grove City's Wendell August Forge creates Steelers and Penguins items
Saturday is “Black & Gold Day at the Forge” in Grove City.
The event from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. will showcase the latest sports collections at Wendell August Forge, which has crafted hand-wrought ornamental metalware and giftware since 1923.
Sports-inspired items for purchase include coaster sets featuring the likenesses of Penguins stars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin forged in metal.
Wendell August Forge is partnering with the National Football League, celebrating its 100th season, to create a series of metal products for every NFL team in the league, including the Steelers.
#SteelersNation check out my friends at @WendellAugust and tackle your Christmas shopping early. They’ve handcrafted only 5,000 of these Pittsburgh Steelers Collector’s ornaments. I’m scooping up 9 now. #6XCHAMPS pic.twitter.com/ktSpxdNZUI
